Most prairie grasses
grow
in compact clumps and have incredible root systems. Switchgrass roots
can reach 12 feet below the ground with Big Bluestem and Indiangrass
going down almost as far.
Prairie Frontier has 7 native prairie grass mixes available. By planting these prairie grasses you can bring back some of what the prairie looked like years ago. Prairie grasses can also provide food and shelter for birds and wildlife and many butterfly larvae use prairie grasses as a food source. Once established, prairie grasses are drought tolerant. |
